Mike Caprara becomes Paul Chryst's first recruit
Woodland Hills linebacker Mike Caprara has accepted a scholarship offer from Pitt. Caprara will become the 20th member of Pitt's 2012 class and the first recruited by new head coach Paul Chryst.
A four-year starter at inside linebacker at Woodland Hills, Caprara became the school's all-time leader tackler before his senior season. According to Woody High head coach George Novak he is perhaps the best linebacker ever to come through the school.
At 6-0, 210-pounds, Caprara finished his high school career with 351 tackles. He's a bit undersized, but is athletic enough to play at the next level, and is instinctive and solid against both the run and the pass.
Caprara is the eighth WPIAL/Pittsburgh City League player to commit to Pitt. He joins Johnstown's Alkwan Williams, Baltimore's Devon Porchia and Upper St. Clair's Dakota COnwell as linebackers in the Panthers incoming recruiting class.
