Penguins Vs. Lightning Score Update: Pittsburgh Takes 2-0 Lead After First Period In Tampa Bay

Looking to sweep the Florida leg of their road trip, the Pittsburgh Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning after one period at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Playing with a badly bruised foot, James Neal opened the scoring for the Pens with his 23rd goal of the year, beating the struggling Mathieu Garon. From a bad angle, Neal banked the shot off Garon's pads and over the goal line for the power-play goal less than four minutes into the game.

Richard Park made it 2-0 on an unassisted effort. Park fired a wrist shot from the slot that went up and over Garon's left shoulder. The Pens are outworking the Lightning so far on both ends, outshooting the Tampa 17 to five. The Pens work in the offensive zone and the soft goaltending that has plagued the Lightning all season has been the difference in this Sunday matinee.
