The Pitt Panthers have been in a free-fall, losing consecutive games to Wagner, Notre Dame, Cincinnati and DePaul, and their problems are showing few signs of stopping against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, as Rutgers leads the Panthers at halftime, 30-19.
Dane Miller and Jerome Seagears each have nine points for Rutgers, which jumped out to a 9-3 lead. J.J. Moore then hit a three-pointer for Pitt, and the Panthers hung tight for a while after that, but a pair of three-pointers by Seagears with a few minutes left in the half gave the Scarlet Knights a decisive advantage, and another by Eli Carter near the end of the half put Rutgers up by 11.
Moore is the Panthersâ leading scorer with seven points. No one else on the Pitt roster has more than four.
