The Pittsburgh Pirates avoided salary arbitration and signed pitchers Joel Hanrahan and Charlie Morton to one-year contracts on Monday.
Hanrahan, who is coming a season that saw him reach a career high 40 saves, and his first All-Star game appearance, will make $4.1 million next season.
Morton, will make $2.455 million, a two million dollar raise from last season. He went 10-10 in 2011, with a 3.83 ERA in 29 starts.
The Pirates,who have already avoided arbitration with pitchers Chris Resop and Jason Grilli, have until Wednesday to sign their four players other players who are eligible for arbitration. Pitchers Evan Meek and Jeff Karstens, and infielders Casey McGehee and Garrett Jones.
