The Nebraska Cornhuskers jumped out to a lead early on and didnât look back Wednesday night in Lincoln, winning 70-58 and dropping the Penn State menâs basketball team to 9-9 on the season.
Brandon Ubel, Bo Spencer and Caleb Walker led Nebraska to a 19-11 lead midway through the first half, and after a three-pointer by Walker with three minutes left in the half, the Cornhuskers held a 12-point lead.
They didnât stop after that, increasing their lead to 18 five minutes into the second half after threes by Dylan Talley and Walker and a jumper by Walker. After that, the Nittany Lionsâ best chance of a comeback was squashed by three-pointers by Spencer and Toney McCray with about five minutes left. Penn State closed the lead to 12 in the last few minutes of the game, but that was as far as the Nittany Lions got.
Tim Frazier managed to rack up 30 points for Penn State in the loss, shooting 10-of-16, and 9-of-9 from the line. No other Nittany Lion had more than eight points.
The loss dropped Penn State to 1-4 in the Big Ten. They host Minnesota on Sunday.
