Penguins Vs. Panthers: Pens Come Up Big, Snap Six-Game Losing Streak

On a day that has so far been dominated by news about Sidney Crosby's progress in recovering from concussion symptoms, the Penguins (21-17-4) will be without him in their attempt to stop a six-game losing streak. Their 7:30 P.M. road matchup against the Florida Panthers will be broadcast in Pittsburgh on ROOT Sports.

With Crosby and several other top players (including Kris Letang and Jordan Staal) battling injuries, the Penguins have sagged in the new year, last winning on December 27 against the Carolina Hurricanes. In the six losses since then, they've scored just six goals. That includes no goals at all in their matchup against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday, in which they managed 30 shots on goal and still lost 1-0.

The Panthers' last matchup was a 2-1 win over the Canucks on Monday, but they've lost six of their last nine, and they've lost top goalie Jose Theodore (knee), who will not be in action tonight.
