The 2012 East-West Shrine game will be played January 21 in St. Petersburg, Florida, at Tropicana Field. The game is a showcase for the upcoming NFL Draft, and is often a place for NFL teams to find some lesser-known and -discussed talent. The rosters have been finalized, the coaches (Brad Childress and Bobby Ross) have been named and practice begins Monday, January 16.
Several players from the region will participate in the game, including two Pittsburgh Panthers linebackers. One of those players, OLB Brandon Lindsey, has drawn the attention of National Football Post writer Wes Bunting, who thinks an impressive performance at the game could help his draft stock:
OLB Brandon Lindsey: Pittsburgh (6-2, 250)
A good athlete with a compact frame who knows how to get after the quarterback in a number of ways, but isn't dynamic in any area. Doesn't look like a playmaking type pass rusher, but his lateral quickness will give him a shot as a rush backer.
