2012 East West Shrine Game: Handful Of Pittsburgh, Penn State, and WVU Players Make Roster

The annual East West Shrine game begins practice on Monday and quite a few players from the Pittsburgh region will be participating in the game, all on the defensive side of the football. For the Pittsburgh Panthers a pair of linebackers will be participating in the game. Linebackers Brandon Lindsey and Max Gruder both received an invite into the game. Gruder was a tackling machine for the Panthers, finishing his senior season with 116 tackles.

Meanwhile the Penn State Nittany Lions have safety Nick Sukay in the game but he will be playing linebacker, making three of the seven linebackers in the game from a school in the state of Pennsylvania. Sukay is a bigger safety, so some NFL teams may look to shift him to outside linebacker to take advantage of his athleticism in coverage.

The West Virginia Mountaineers fall in with the most players out of the region however, with three players in the game. The three players won't be all on the same team in the game though, as cornerback Keith Tandy will be playing on the West roster. On the East roster, defensive lineman Julian Miller and linebacker Najee Goode.
